Commander: Naya Beasts

Hey y'all, welcome!

I am going to be posting here my first Commander deck on this blog, giving you a list of all the cards and the strategies used in the deck as well. With this posts I want to be able to do another blog posts months later and see how this and other decks have grown and evolved. And by all means if you have ideas or suggestions for this blog, please leave a comment below. I love hearing from different voices and minds to come up with better ideas!

So a bit of context before we move forward, something you the reader should know about my playing style. I am Blue player. I love me some control, spells, wizards and counterspells. I've been a Blue player ever since I started playing Magic back during Masque Block. But truth be told, I do enjoy playing all colors in the mana wheel and combinations as well, variety is the spice of life after all. As you know as well, with the Commander 2016 products we all got a chance to play 4-color Commander decks, I run a "Super Friends Fort" with Kynaios and Tiro. But after that, my mind kind of blew up with all these different ideas and potential, and after I while I guess you could say I planeswalked over to a new home...Naya!

When you think Naya, you think creatures. And in the Green, Red & White pool of creatures you have some pretty big solid monsters to pick from. But it's been a while since I've made a Tribal based deck, focusing on one creature type to get the most out of all the cards and create a synergy. I am not a big fan of Elves, Goblins or Slivers, but if the type of creatures can be fun and creative, that gets my seal of approval. So I decided to go with a Beasts creature type, a type that was given a little bit of love as a tribe back in Onslaught and over the years have made some great cards. The deck does have a few other creature types though, like mana ramping Elves, a permanent destroying Elephant and the oddest choice for a Commander.

So there is the deck list, a lot of creatures and a few enchantments but absolutely no artifact cards, I think I want to do that on purpose for theme. So a funny thing happened just this morning, I got a trade in from Puca Trade, with both Mayael of the Anima and Marath, Will of the Wild. Needless to say, I am changing Johan for one of these new cards, I am thinking Marath. So yeah, as soon as I finished writing this list, my deck is already changing.

But I am going to be cutting it short for here now, I am going to start writing the second part of this post tonight and I will go over strategy and key plays for this deck, and ideas to improve this deck. I will be posting the link here so you can check out the post as soon as I am done. Thank you for reading and be sure to let me know what you think of this deck so far, that is all for now and I will move to my end step now.

The Intro Post...

Greetings and salutations!

Welcome to my new blog, specifically for our favorite cardboard addiction, Magic: The Gathering! Now, a little disclaimer here, I am not a pro player or even a power player by any means, I still like to win though and get pretty promo cards whenever I can, but at the end of the day I know that MTG is just a hobby to me. I've just recently have had a lot of ideas and thoughts on the game and I didn't want to post MTG all the time on my own blog, so I am moving it over here now.

On this page a few things you can expect...

  • A boat load of Commander posts, me and my friends play and create a lot of Commander decks and I want to share our decks and see where we could upgrade them.
  • Sealed events, practically the only kinds of MTG events I go to now in days. Always a blast to play the new sets and see what the big bombs will be.
  • Cubes! I want to really make a Cube or two and posts the progress and ideas here!
  • Opinions, because every a**hole has one.
  • Puca Trades, what I've received and what I am looking for,
  • And any kind of MTG idea that comes to my mind!

So with that out of the way be sure to stay tuned and by all means if you have any ideas for the blog, leave a comment below. I am going to try to posts as much as I can, but later on I will do my best to keep a steady schedule, especially while updating my other pages as well. So thank you and I hope you enjoy these posts, moving to my end step now.
